I don't exactly have a green thumb so I am unsure what to do about some trouble I am having with wasps in my trees. I have tree that is close to my house that is swarming with black wasps. I don't see any nests so I don't know where they are coming from. If you have any helpful advise, I would sure appreciate it.

Do not bother them, and they most likely will not bother you. Try to become tolerant and accepting of them, without fear. It is my belief that they smell fear and I figure fear probably smells like anger. If they smell anger, they feel threatened and will attack. I have experienced this with bees and with mud daubers.

A few questions, please.

From your profile I don't know where you live. Need a hint.

What type of trees are they? Pecan?

Most all wasps are after the bad bugs that may have taken up living quarters there.

Could the moderator please move this to the insects page so we don't have to start looking/answering here too?

Thanks!

Bill: I agree with you in part.

I can't believe how many mistakes I made when I signed on. It takes a little time to learn the system.

Perhaps an answer to the question is OK with a 'how-to" hint will help the new folks out a lot and make it enjoyable for them.

Yes... I agree totally... nobody is trying point fingers at newbies. But our accomplished moderators are the only people who can do all that in one go.

We had a multi-answer 'insect thread' going in the 'Meet & Greet' and I was simply trying to encourage this new board to avoid becoming unwieldy -- before topics spider everywhere. If that happened, nobody can find value.
