Post subject:  Corn Ear-Worms

Does anyone know how to get rid of these bugs? I'm talking about the grubs that get into the ears of corn and eat from the top down. I have tried some inorganic poisons and have had very little success. Does anyone know of an organic solution?

Thanks

What I am tring this year for the first time is mixing some Bt into a bottle of water with a dropper tip, and dropping some into the tops of the ears when the silks first start emerging. I won't know until I harvest whether or not it works, but I bet it will.

What dragonfly has done sounds great. I bet it will work. The inorganic poisons never do what they say they will, just damage. JungaHungry: were you actually going to eat this?

Stupid question --> What is "bt"?

Stupid answer --> Yes.

Thanks

When I was in the Marine Corps JROTC my gunny told us the only stupid questions are the ones that go unasked.
Bt is Bacillus thuringiensis. :arrow:

Now, about that answer. Well, at least you did not get a chance to eat that poison. :)

Thanks 'all. I'll give that Bacillus thuringiensis a try. I've got a new crop already started, poison free. 8)
