Hi All,

Its that time of year again when Bed Bugs are rife, it's due to the mild weather that we are having at the moment. These are not the easiest of pests to get rid of as they are quite resilient, these can also be picked up from anywhere, public transport, shopping centres, or actually any public area.

Bed Bugs can be seen by the naked eye, however there very clever as they hide in the day in your mattress or behind loose wallpaper and even behind electrical sockets and when you are nicely tucked up in bed out they come and with frequent feeding they can live up to 18 months. They bread and can lay eggs within 10 to 20 days, they then need to feed on blood to become adults and a female can lay between 150 - 350 eggs in her lifetime.

So how do you know if you have Bed Bugs:

Blood Spotting on your sheets, brown excrement spots, whitish coloured un-hatched and hatched eggs.

I've heard bed bugs referred to like cockroaches--they won't kill you but they'll gross you out in a hurry.

Do you have any recommended treatments to get rid of them, other than burning the house down?

Yeah. Gross. Probably much worse than that sudden appearance of a waterbug on the bed.

lavendar oil,..spray it around ALL over ,...."L"

OK,..maybe I should have said to mix it with a BIT of water and spray all over the mattress and pillows,...you will have to dribble it in the cracks of furniture,..etc,....it smothers them,.so don't dilute it TOO much,...

A friend in New York City has been recovering from a bed bug infestation last year in the spring.
He sent this link to a video for making a bed bug trap with a plastic dog dish, a cooler full of
dry ice, and talcum powder to keep them from climbing back out of the inverted dish once they've
landed in it.

The method appears to be totally organic, but he repeats himself a lot during the discussion, probably
for liability reasons. Be careful with the dry ice!
