I posted this in the Trees forum by mistake. These worms are all over my Chinese Elm. I've been using a hose end sprayer filled with garret juice, plant wash, orange oil, seaweed extract, and molasses. What are these worms? and is will this combination spray work? Thanks

I sprayed with BT. Hope it works.

These worms only have 6 legs. All 6 legs are up by the head.

From the other pictures that I've been able to find these are Elm leaf grubs. I guess I'll keep spraying BT each week and hope the trees recover.

I'm trying to find what eats these things. I think if you release a mass amount of lady bugs on the tree and throw some praying mantises up there, it might help. Don't know if you have that kind of time to find them. How big is the tree? This really sucks. I wish one of these pros. would give you some help. :?

Hey bgeib, I called my brother's friend who had this same problem and he said he sprayed the orange oil extract solution on the leaves (lightly), and it helped. (and he's not even in to organics) He said that the birds eat these beetles like hot cakes and he now has bird houses all around the tree! LOL. He also said that he found beetles in the garage too, so check that out.

I just sprayed soap in my 6g hose end sprayer last night. I saw the beetles buzzing around on the upper leaves. I'll have to get more orange oil to try. I'd like to see these critters just drop dead from these 2 40 ft trees.

Well there is a way to accomplish that too. But I read where they keep coming back after spraying poison, because they just leave the tree for a while and hang out somewhere else in the neighborhood. The bird house thing seems to work for Steve.
