What is with all the snails this year?? We have snails on almost everything, even the trees. Are they harmful or should we just let them be? Anyone else seeing them?

I live in Lake Highlands and have (and have always had) big snails. They can be very harmful. I was surprised to see how much they love to eat my sedums. They can destroy many types of plants. The first thing I do is put mounds of crushed pecan shell mulch (at most nurseries) all around each plant. They don't like that much. Also douse the plant with DE.

Thank you, I also just read crushed egg shells can be helpful. But our snails arent the flat"ish" ones in the library info. They are more spiral/conical shaped. Is that the type you have too. I am in the Eagle Mountain area.

If you have been 100% organic for awhile, usually the toads come to the rescue against snails and slugs.
