I had to laugh and to share this with y'all. I read an article regarding a dairy farm in Mn that has a unique way to sow grass seed: "The couple let their animals do some of their seeding. During the grazing season, their feed supplier puts 1 lb of forage seed into each load of supplement for cows and into a grain mix for heifers. The mix contains alfalfa, clover, reed canarygrass and birdsfoot trefoil seed."

I've seen folks down here let their grass go all the way to seed before they let the animals in on it. That is their objective. The cows come in and trample (i.e. "plant") as much as they eat. And any seed they eat is full of protein. Some of the grasses are taller than the cattle when the gate is opened.

On the subject of animals working for you, Joel Salatin has a pigerator. He spreads whole kernal corn in his barn before he brings the cows in for the winter. The cows get fed hay which eventually covers up the corn. In the spring the cows go out to pasture and he moves piglets into the barn area. They root around for the corn and effectively compost the hay, manure and urine. The pigs go out to pasture and the compost is ready.
