I want to use raised beds in my garden and have been searching for a non toxic product that has a natural look similar to wood to build the beds with. I want something affordable and natural that will be easy to construct and something that will last a long time.

Our land was neglected for 40 years - good news - no chemicals.
We just till a strip and add good "stuff" that rasies the bed. in time if we get grass in the area we just move to another area. Works great and we make our lawn better.

I'm considering the possibility of creating a few raised beds next Spring, and not knowing anything about this hardie-board, did a bit of digging. Hmmm... seems these Hardie folks have got themselves into a bit of a pickle over asbestos:

They are one of several companies in litigation over asbestos but the hardie board product does not contain any.
