Post subject:  the ULTIMATE mouse & rat trap

I have designed a trap that will catch both rats & mice, and it will catch them endlessly. If anyone out there is having rodent problems this will do the trick. After I built the first trap I put it in the shed where I keep my grain and such . Within one month I had caught over 100 mice. This thing works better than I had ever hoped. If anyone is interested let me know. This is not a trap to put in the house, but if you've got a barn or a grain shed this is the best way to get rid of a mouse or rat problem.

Sid-
Bring it on, right now my solution is to be real nice to our rat snakes. My wife feeds the cats so well that they don't do much hunting anymore.

Sid:

Can the design be modified for squirrels :?:

Is your trap a 'live trap?"

Does it have commerical applications such as for a wearhouse?

You might be on to something :!:

There's a chipmunk trap described on another list. It consists of a 5-gallon bucket, half full of water, with sunflower seeds sprinkled on top of the water. Then they lay a 3 inch wide plank (2x4 or a roofing shingle)from a step or something to the rim of the bucket. Then seed the trap with a few sunflower seeds on top of the plank. That's all. Then go about your business. The writer reported catching 15 chipmunks in a few days. Too bad they can't tread water very long. Then if you're the sensitive type, you can relocate the catch to another place where they can have a full and complete life. I would relocate them to the bottom of my compost pile.

I think the same trap would work for rats, mice, and squirrels. You might have to modify the bait and the bucket, but why not. For squirrels you might have to go with a deep Rubbermaid bin, say 18-gallons. Sunflower seeds might work for all these pests.

Sid, can you give me more information and how to get the traps?
