I'm planning to build raised vegetable beds four feet wide by various lengths, and I'm curious as to the best orientation, whether north-south or east-west. The location will be full sun. I'd appreciate suggestions from anyone, thanks.

You will need the best orientation so that tall crops (like corn) don't shade too much of your smaller crops (like cabbage or lettuce), throughout the day. Most crops need at least 4-6 hours of direct sunlight.

Get out and study the movement of the sun's path in the early morning and late afternoon. See where it your shades and shadows are.

Happy Gardening!
