Post subject:  Squash Bugs

We have squash bugs in our garden and would like to know if the garlic pepper tea will run them out without also running off the beneficial ladybugs as well...If there are any ideas out there please let us know.
Thanks from East Texas...

Yes, it works great, and it's safe.

I spray my young squash and cucumbers with a pesticidal compost tea loaded with garlic, onions, hot pepper, with a little canola oil and liquid soap. You must dilute it so not to harm leaves and soil organisms.

It will prevent and repel vine borers too.

I have grown squash for almost 20 years and have always had squash bugs destroy my plants. This year I heard someone on Howard Garrett's radio show say that they used flour on their squash plants, and they didn't have squash bugs. I decided it was worth a try. I sprinkled flour all over my squash plants early in June and have not had a squash bug yet. I will do the same thing next year. I don't know if it works once the bugs are on your plants, but you might try it.
