I am growing tomatoes in the Dallas area. I have 8 plants that are all doing well with the exception of one. It is a Celebrity that I have grown before with good results. This plant is about 3' tall and up until about 10 days ago was very healthy. It now has started wilting like it needs water. When I give it water it temporarily perks up but within the day wilts down again. It now has gotten to the point where the water does not help to perk it up. I am totally organic and the rest of my plants are happy.

The only thing I can figure is maybe it has root knot nematodes that are affecting the roots taking up water and nutrients.

I think it may be good to just pull it up and see.

Any ideas?

so it doesn't look like any pests are on the plant? Have you studued the leaves at all to see if there are signs of pests? I would agree that it doesn't sound like it would recover at this point.

I live in the Dallas area too, and the heat we have been having could be contributing.
I have 3 inches of cedar bark mulch on my tomatoes.
I like cedar bark mulch because of it's insect repelling properties.Charlotte
