Post subject:  Okra 7 cotton root rot

I have a first year garden in Medina County. Neighbors have quit planting okra due to cotton root rot. I know actenovate will cure this, but spending
$25 for 20 row feet of okra is silly. What other soutions might there be. I've heard drenching the row with orange oil/water solution would help. The rest of the garden is completely planted. Might the orange oil drench followed by greensand and rock phosphate covered with soil then putting in the seeds do any good? I intend to soak the seeds in liquid seaweed 24 hours before planting. Help! Fried okra is my favorite.

Lots of quality compost, compost tea and living mulch. I have had great results using the the Back to Earth Professional landscapers Mix. Your other ideas will help also.
