Because of the structure of the vine, I would think that trimming them would open them up very readily to disease and pests. Also, unchecked growth in vining squash is the best indicator of a good harvest. I would let them take all the room they need.

sure, as long as they haven't rooted you can push them all over the place with no problem... |
