Post subject:  Getting tomatillos to set fruit

Hello, new to this site, loving it. I have 3 tomatillo plants that have flowers opening and growing but not setting fruit. They all dry up and fall off before that happens. I have them growing in a grow dome with peppers and they are huge, staked and gorgeous (they are the lushest, greenest plants in there). But they don't set fruit. I am having the same problems with my Brandywine tomatoes. I have other tomatoes going that have fruit on them but not these guys. I have two fans going in the dome to keep the air circulating, just light breezes. Any ideas???? Thank you for your time and advice.

I'm not familiar with the grow dome but can pollinating insects get in there? If not, that's why it's not setting fruit.

I don't think tomatillos need pollinators, but self-fertilize like tomatoes do. I grew some tomatillos last year, and I remember it took awhile before they started setting fruit, but they eventually did. If I remember correctly, they flowered for at least a couple of weeks before setting any fruit. Give them a week or two.

Hi again, I went out and checked and there is a little tiny fruit starting when I took the petals out of the flowers that have fallen off. The blossoms seem to fertilize but then fall off. They look dry and turn white at the stem and litter my soil with faded yellow little flowers. Sigh. Thank you.
