Post subject:  Bee Balm gone Bad

I have an area in my yard that is a butterfly/humingbird garden. I bought a small bee balm from Redenta's, and it is not doing well at all. It just isn't growing. All the plants around it are thriving, it is in the right location. Any tips on growing this great litle herb? Should I try and order a bigger one from somewhere?

Several years ago I had bee balm but mine was in part shad. It seemed to do really well. It blooms in late summer, so give it some time.

A few years ago I bought some bee balm seeds from the Wildflower Farm in Fredericksburg. They bloom and re-seed every year. These are a light purple color. I tried the red ones you buy at the nursery and they didn't grow for me either. I think that's a northern variety. Try the seeds next year and maybe you'll have more luck.

I suspect Pridgeon may be right. Bee balm is blooming like crazy here right now. It grows in the fields and on the roadsides wild. Maybe you are giving it too much care? Too much water, maybe?

Post subject:  I went ahead and bought another one yesterday-

Figured an extra won't hurt. I had the old one in part shade and I put this one in full sun, so we will see what happens :)
