Our school in Arlington wants to plant a few grape vines. We are looking for edible grapes (that taste good) and not a lot of fussing to keep the vines alive. The harvest amount is not important. I've read the links on a previous post, but they seem to focus on wine production. Also, what time of year does one plant grape vines in TX?

Late fall/early spring is the best time. Call Womack Nursery in Deleon, TX and ask for a catalog. They have every kind of fruit imaginable with information about them all.
You can make this a research project for the fall class and still have time to plant. Grapes produce fruit anywhere from 1-5 years, depending on the variety. Don't forget about fertilizing, water and pruning.
