How big will a bell pepper and pimento plant get? I found out last year that poblanos get alot bigger than jalapenos grow. I didn't space them far enough apart. |

It depends on a lot of things. I have had some quite large bell pepper plants (sprawling out 4-5 feet across). Soil, water, weather, all can impact. Are you planting in a known garden plot? How did last year's plant in that area grow? |

Last year (same garden) my jalepenos, banana peppers and sweet cherry peppers all grew about 2-1/2 or three feet tall and about 2 feet wide. This is the usual size my pepper plants grow. But my poblanos where easily 5 feet tall when they folded my caged over, and 3 or four feet wide (Only bad thing was it only made smallish peppers). I am trying to see if the bell pepper plants are going to go crazy like that. If so, I am wanting to make sure I space them out farther than the other peppers. Thanks for the advise. |

My jalapeno peppers have usually stayed fairly small. My poblano also got quite large. My bell peppers are usually mid-range between those two. I always try to start out with plenty of room between plants but my garden usually grows into one huge hedge of stuff. |

I spaced things out with what I hope will be enough room, but if not, then that must mean I've got a good garden going. |

I always put a small tomato cage around my peppers, eggplants etc. They tend to get top-heavy when in fruit and can't be damaged by wind. My peppers usually get 3x3. |
