Read an article in Mother Earth News regarding flowering plants that attract beneficial insects such as ladybugs, lacewings, etc. Where can I find a list of native east Texas flowering plants that will attract specific beneficial insects? |

If you are organic in your lawn care and what you use in your garden, and you have a diverse population of plants, you automatically will have beneficial insects. They aren't always hanging around until you have a pest problem, then they come in and take care of the problem and leave again. Lady bugs will only make an appearance if you have aphids. |

Thank you. I am planning on building in the middle of 5 wooded acres so being organic will be easy since no chemicals have ever been used. ( family land so I know the use or non use in this case) When I clear for my garden, what or how can I find recommended diverse plants. |

Well...what kind of garden look do you want? Is it sun or shade? what are your height restrictions etc... There is no list of diverse plants, it just means that you need to plant different types of plants. Natives are always an excellent choice. If you live in Texas, check out "Native Texas Plants" by Sally and Andy Wasowski. |

They will be able to help you with what will be successful in your area. You will also need to consider deer and other animals that will feed in your garden if they have access.
