Post subject:  no fruit on pomegranates

I bought 2 "Wonderful" pomegranate trees at Calloway's about 3 or so years ago. They both had a couple of flowers when I planted them. Nothing since. They seem to be ok, trunks a little spindly. What do I need to do for fruit?

Make sure they are not planted too deep and are getting full sun. Have the trees grown much in height since you planted?

They have grown only in height. They're probably 7 ft. or so and top heavy. They were staked when planted. I removed the stake on Fri. to straighten it up again and the tree fell over a good bit. So, no, it's not planted too deep. The trunk is spindly. My husband wants to top them out but I don't know if that's a good idea or not. They're in full sun. Should I fertilize? If so, with what?

If your tree has been in the ground 3 years and it still needs to be staked so it won't fall over, it sound like it is not doing well with root development. I would never top a tree...ever. Give it root stimulator once a month, and check out Howard's sick tree treatment under Organic Advice/Library.
