| Post subject: | no fruit on pomegranates |
I bought 2 "Wonderful" pomegranate trees at Calloway's about 3 or so years ago. They both had a couple of flowers when I planted them. Nothing since. They seem to be ok, trunks a little spindly. What do I need to do for fruit? |

Make sure they are not planted too deep and are getting full sun. Have the trees grown much in height since you planted? |

They have grown only in height. They're probably 7 ft. or so and top heavy. They were staked when planted. I removed the stake on Fri. to straighten it up again and the tree fell over a good bit. So, no, it's not planted too deep. The trunk is spindly. My husband wants to top them out but I don't know if that's a good idea or not. They're in full sun. Should I fertilize? If so, with what? |

If your tree has been in the ground 3 years and it still needs to be staked so it won't fall over, it sound like it is not doing well with root development. I would never top a tree...ever. Give it root stimulator once a month, and check out Howard's sick tree treatment under Organic Advice/Library. |
