My 5 year old apricot trees grow very tall with thin branches. Good flowering last spring but little to no fruit set. Don't know variety but bought from local who usually only stocks what grows best in Washington County. Can I prune the trees back to 6'? Will that help fruit set? Will that impact next spring's crop?

Brenham is in Washington County....about 80 miles north of Houston, 80 miles south of Austin.....45 miles southwest of Bryan/College Station.

I'm not an expert on apricots but in my experience, apricots bloom too early and the frost generally gets to them - no fruit. That has been my experience in the Ft. Worth area. Since you live further south ???

bummer!!!

I popped in to see what I could find out about Apricot Trees.

"no fruit" is NOT the news I wanted to hear

we have 3 trees and they have not had any fruit at all in 3 years........
it's sounding like we'll never have apricots

On the positive side, they are great looking trees & the blooms are beautiful. With a little luck you may get some fruit now & then.
