Post subject: | Peach Tree Pruning |
We just moved in to a new house and there is a peach tree in our yard. There were a couple of branches that are hanging down to the ground. Today when I came home those branches had split and fallen. There is another branch that is still on the tree that is pretty heavy and hanging down to the ground. Should I go ahead and cut this whole branch of or can I prune some limbs and alleviate some of the stress or can I brace/raise the branch up? Thanks Jerry |

Put Tree Trunk Goop on the open wounds to keep them from getting infected or problematic if they are large. Equal parts soft rock phosphate, compost and diatomaceous earth to make a putty-like consistency with water and slap it on there. It should be wet enough to stick. You'll have to put it back on if it rains off but it sure has worked well on my trees. The low hanging branch can be propped up if you want to save the fruit but wherever the branch comes in contact with the support it will likely cause a wound. You will probably have to remove it eventually but sometimes they recover. Rarely, but sometimes. |
