Post subject:  Spider mites on indoor Aralia

I am now starting to see what I believe are spider mites on my beautiful, tall indoor aralia(sp?). I am seeing tiny white eggs (I believe) on the top and underside of some of the leaves which is causing them to turn yellow and drop.

What's the best tried and true organic spray for these pests?

If they are spider mites, liquid seaweed mix will control them. You may have aphids which can be controlled with a Neem spray. Follow all instructions with products. All this & more info. can be found on this website.

I also found that my antique rose which I have in a pot in the house if covered with little red spider mites. I took it outside and sprayed it with pepper spray mix on Sunday and checked it again and found none. I will spray it again this weekend just to be sure.

I am using a new product called "Indoor Pharm w/ pure rosemary oil". It's an insecticide, miticide and fungicide for indoor plants and contains other essential oils. It's really strong so I added water to a smaller spray bottle then filled the other half with Indoor Pharm. I would recommend that you cut it a little because it could easily burn plants if not. So far, I've sprayed the plant twice (3 days between sprayings) and will spray one more time this weekend. The plant shows no signs of burning and look really vigorous and healthy. (the packaging says it prevents blackspot , rust, powdery mildew etc.) They have a similar product specifically for roses; I think it's called Rose Pharm.

I got it at Redentas, $14.99 and your Ground Crew card gets you a 10% discount on all of their organics.

Horticultural cornmeal in the soil, Garrett Juice mixture on the foliage. Extra seaweed will help. I would also add some coffe grounds to the potting soil.
