Can anyone recommend a good reference source for VERY general questions about creating a wildflower meadow? Some of the quesions I have include 1. Necessary prep ? (I'd be replacing bermudagrass, mostly) 2. Minimum effective area for seeding? 3. Seed souces? 4. Seed mixture appropriate for North Texas? 5. Use native grasses also? 6. What about winter? Can/should I plant a winter "green manure"? Apologies if this isn't the correct place for this post. I'll move it if somebody "tells me where to go"! 8') Be nice! |

Here is some good information on planting wildflower seeds: http://www.seedsource.com/garden/planting.htm They are also a great source for native seeds. More information can be found at: http://www.wildseedfarms.com/faq_main_page.htm |

Treat yourself to a road trip and go to the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower center down near Austin and you will learn and get to see wonderful things. I enjoy it everytime I go. Their website is pretty cool also. It's www.wildflower.org Kathe |
