Post subject:  Planting Wildflowers...

Can anyone recommend a good reference source for VERY general questions about creating a wildflower meadow? Some of the quesions I have include 1. Necessary prep ? (I'd be replacing bermudagrass, mostly) 2. Minimum effective area for seeding? 3. Seed souces? 4. Seed mixture appropriate for North Texas? 5. Use native grasses also? 6. What about winter? Can/should I plant a winter "green manure"?

Apologies if this isn't the correct place for this post. I'll move it if somebody "tells me where to go"! 8') Be nice!

Here is some good information on planting wildflower seeds:

http://www.seedsource.com/garden/planting.htm

They are also a great source for native seeds.

Treat yourself to a road trip and go to the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower center down near Austin and you will learn and get to see wonderful things. I enjoy it everytime I go.

Their website is pretty cool also. It's www.wildflower.org
