Post subject:  NELLIE R STEVENS HOLLY - SINGLE OR MULTIPLE TRUNK GROWTH?

I have planted a row of Nellie R. Stevens Holly 3 gallon stock as a screen. They average about 2-3 feet in height. I planted them 10 feet apart with the intention of them developing as individual specimen plants. Some have a single trunk; others have 2 or three individual branches coming from the ground. My question: If I want them to develop as large specimen plants, should I manipulate their growth as a single or multiple trunk - or just let them grow as they came from the nursery?

Being just 10 feet apart they are going to grow together anyway in time whether or not they are multi-trunk ar single trunk.

Hi Gary,

I agree with Carhoods that the option is up to you. Take a look here for helpful info.
