OK, so I am a tree guy and a little out of my league on this. I have a Sago and it has a polyp (I think that is the correct term), I would call it a sucker forming at the root crown. I have heard that you can take these off and pot them to grow a new sago. 1) how do you go about doing this (use a knife and cut a wedge or just rip the sucker off)? 2) and more importantly, how do you do this wrong? This was a gift from my fater-in-law and I would hate to divide it only to kill it. |

Hi Margauritaville, I hear you! We don't your father in law to get upset. Your 'baby' is called a 'pup' or 'offset'. Here's a whole bunch of info. http://www.emilycompost.com/sago_palm1.htm http://www.rhapisgardens.com/sagos/ Enjoy, Newt |
