I have a rather long (~100 ft.) back alley, cedar fence, ~ 3ft. "bed" between fence and concrete alley. Mostly morning sun, then shaded by fence. I'd like some suggestions for plantings - perhaps a groundcover that might eventually creep up the fence. I'm on the "corner" of the alley, so SUV's are continually driving on/in my "bed" - had to move the sprinkler heads as a result. If there were something that caused FLAT TIRES when you drove on it, I'd plant it in a heartbeat! Thanks in advance.

Bamage-
I spent several years planting stuff behind the fence in the alley just so you wouldn't have to get the mower back there. I have cannas & even if they are run over, they pop back up! And multiply! Also have some kind of 'myrtle'-I think-and purple wondering jew. In b/w all this hollyhocks come up every spring & I don't care if they don't stand straight & they get straggly-they're in the alley! Unfortunately, there's honeysuckle that will probably crowd out everything. I have 4 o'clocks planted sooo we'll see if they make it.

A holly bush might get the point across, even though I hate holly. :)
