Post subject:  Asain Jasmine Die Back

Over the winter we seem to have lost a lot of our front yard ground cover, Asain Jasmine. Snow laid on it for a bit during our cold winter. I am now not sure if I should remove the dead areas and re-plant or see if the remainning good plants will spread again. any advice?

Where are you? Does Asian jasmine usually winter well?

What percentage of the area would you say died? Chances are it will come back if some survived, but putting some new sprigs in the thin areas isn't a bad idea.

We had a lot of die-off here in the south side of Fort Worth. I think there was actually close to 60 nights of sub-freezing weather in the winter over 2013-14, but the killer was the one in early March that dropped down to about 9 degrees after things had started to grow. I've been cutting out dead salvia, damaged rosemary, and I lost a lovely light lavender colored vitex. Perhaps that color isn't as hardy.
