Has anyone ever used East Indian Holly Ferns in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area? I saw some at Home Depot over the weekend, and the tag says they are safe down to zero degrees. I want to plant them in a shade garden, but was wondering how they might do during the hottest part of the summer. They will not get any direct sunlight. Thanks.

A place I go to find out about locally adapted plants is the web site for Weston Gardens in Bloom. They grow an English garden in Texas, so to speak.

East Indian Holly Fern is best in full shade and they say it is adapted to this area.

Thank you. I had accidentally run across that site yesterday. I didn't realize they were in East Texas.

They're not, they are in Fort Worth. I didn't realize where you are. Still, the description of what the plant likes sounds like it will do just fine in East Texas.

I'm in Flower Mound, so it should be just fine. Thanks again.

Morning sun is ok but they must have afternoon shade.
