Ok, I have two questions.

Are there any ideas on getting rid of dallisgrass. My house was the first on our street to be built and because of that we have alot of dallisgrass spread out over our yard. It makes our house look bad as all of our neighbors have very little weeds, especially dalligrass.

I was thinking of using a post hole digger to try and get all of the roots as I know that dallisgrass is a pain.

Also, our yard is fairly compacted because of the rains that we get and area is on the coast with lots and lots of gumbo. Should I use a plugger? Would it just compact again in a few months? Will weeds just get worse after using a plugger? Questions, questions, questions.

After reading some suggestions on other parts of the forum, my idea is to use a small torch and burn the tops off. Then brush that away and I will more accurately be able to see the root are of the dallisgrass making it alot easier to pull.

I have tried pulling dallisgrass in the past but it is very hard to see the whole group of roots and get the whole thing out. Another idea is, seeing as I have a small local area college right across from me, seeing if some of the young gentlemen would like to make a little bit of money. It might take a few sessions but I am sure they would like to make a little money.

If the soil is moist, dallis pulls pretty easily. If you don't want to bend over, try a Weed Hound tool.
