I moved in a new home last January and used St Augustine to sod the yard. With the cooler nights the lawn has developed a severe case of brown patch. After reading the recommendation of using agricultural corn meal to organically treat brown patch, I decided to give it a try. My problem is my fertilizer spreader (Lesco) is useless the cornmeal is not fine enough and just clogs up. I have 450 pounds to put out so I could use some advice on what is the best method of broadcasting cornmeal.

I use a drop spreader for all the meals I apply. They are much easier to handle since the product just drops through.

The meal products will usually go through a cyclone spreader that has a beater bar or similar device in the bottom. You might also try spraying garlic. New research shows that it works.
