About three years ago I had 2 dead trees removed and the stumps ground below the soin surface. The surrounding yard is St Augustine. This fall I noticed a tan "fungus" growing just at the base of the grass that is from 6" to 12" in diameter. These are growing in the area above the old tree bases. How can I treat the area yo get rid of the "fungus"?

This is a natural part of the breakdown of the wood underground after the trees were taken out. It will go away when the wood has all broken down. Fungi are like icebergs - 90% (my number, but you get the idea) is underground. If the top part is annoying, chop or knock it off. I wouldn't do anything to treat the fungus. The soil will be much richer because of this activity.

I absolutely agree. Let Nature take Her course. It should be over soon enough. Once wood starts to rot, as long as it gets plenty of fresh air and the occasional moisture, you cannot stop it.
