When my husband and I built our new home (we moved in April 2003), we had the builder put Natural DE and boric acid in all of the exterior walls before the insulation was put in with good results (few bugs).

Now that it's cricket season, however, I'm now wishing we had also put the DE and boric acid in all of the wet walls (walls with plumbing). We've also now added extra caulk around the doors. We were never "invaded" as were our neighbors, but these extra steps have made a significant difference and reduced the cricket in-house population to one or two a week instead of daily.

Hope this will help others planning new construction.

Sheryl

Crickets must be controlled. If they take up residence in your walls, the most common solution to the unbearable stench is to destroy the building and replace it.
