Howdy ya'll;

I'm a rookie so here goes
Every year at this time, when we have had as much rain in such a short span of time I have a standing water problem close to my house and back patio. I can drain most of it. but a fair amount I cannot afford to do much about. What can I treat/spray the water with to deter mosequito breeding, mildewing and mold without damaging the grass?

thanx 4 ur time

odayin,

I apologize for just now responding to your question. What will help in the future, be sure and post your question in the appropriate forum. This post would most likely fit in the Pest & Disease forum, or even the General Gardening & Landscaping forum. You didn't get the exposure you needed in How to Use This Discussion Board. Perhaps a mod can come along and move it to a more appropriate forum.

To answer your question, I spray standing water with a light solution of orange oil and water. You could probably go as heavy as 1 ounce in a 32 oz. spray bottle. This might stunt the grass a bit, but if it is healthy, it should bounce right back.

Odayin, with all due respect my friend, you need to "be able to afford" something about standing water near your house. the cost of some dirt and sod so water runs drains away from the foundation of your home will be big time cheap compared to the cost of foundation problems around your house. :shock:
