I have salvaged some old dresser drawers. These drawers are raw wood interiors (painted exterior fronts) The sides are 1 x 12, bottoms are thin plywood (1/4"). I would like to use these as planters for herbs. Can anyone tell me what product I can use to seal the wood that will be safe to use with edible plants?

I can not answer your question, but I will say that if you can get your hands on a couple of galvanized wash tubs, like for dogs and drill holes in the bottom it makes the best herb planter. I tried this l;ast year and was really suprised at how well my herbs did.
