I was given a potted, large (9'X 6') NORFOLK ISLAND PINE. It has been outside in the summer, inside for the winter. Being it's considered a tropical, if I plant it outside, does it have a chance? Our ground is primarily clay and we live near Gainesville, Texas. It is too big to continue moving it around and actually too large for a indoor residence.

Norfolk Island Pines like moderate to cool temperatures. Either of our temperature extremes, especially the cold winters we have (anything below 50 degrees) will kill it.

If the tree is too large now for your home, you might try to sell it to one of the interior landscape designers that service shopping malls and large businesses. Just a thought.
