Actually I have two questions:
My guess is take the newer stuff off the top and get to the bottom. I just thought there might some other way. My compost pile would be much larger but all I have around me are Cedar Trees so I do not get much other the grass and kitchen scraps for my pile. |

I dunno about the molasses, but I have sifted out about a wheelbarrow worth of "good stuff" from my pile. I'll be doing more sifting this weekend DH built me a sifter that's about 2' square out of 1x4 and some of that square mesh chicken wire (I dont' know how best to describe it - the holes are about 1/4"square). It was originally made to sift the umpteen bajillion small limestone rocks out of the yard...I like sifting compost a LOT better LOL |

You need more than one pile so you can turn the first pile into the second one. This is one reason why the barrel type compost tumblers are somewhat popular (they eliminate this step). Don't know how much molasses to use; liquid might be better/cheaper to use than dry. Check composting forum for add. info. |
