If I avoid shredding anything "glossy", is there any problem w/ adding cross-cut shredded office paper to my compost bin and counting it as "brown" material?

Shredded paper will work fine in the compost pile. Keep it turned because it may pack down more than some other material. It also makes great bedding for worm composting.

We have a cross cut shredder that we use at home for everything except colored advertising - we don't shred our newspaper, though, just waaaaay too much for that, but all our junk mail, "oops" printed things, and general paper trash, and it all goes into the compost pile.

Talk about ultimate privacy control! No personal information finds its way into the trash. It's all shredded and composted.
