Sure milk is a great "greens" source for your compost pile. Rich in calcium and phosphorus. Plus it is a great fungal food in the compost pile for the microherd. Always mix any stinky, nasty stuff with at least 2-3 times more "browns" than "greens", in order to reduce stinky smells, absorb the nitrogen, and reduce pests from smelling it and getting in it. |

Good deal, I hate to just throw it away. Just so I am clear on this - should I pour it over the top and then turn the pile? Is that what you meant by mixing it in? Appreciate your help, Christina |

Garden-Ville has a contract with local dairy to dump their excess cream (from all the skim milk we have turned to). They dump it by the tank car load. I would not waste the protein on the pile, though. Pour it on your lawn and tell us what happens. |
