Does anyone know for certian if the shaving left after a red oak tree stump is ground down is fit to put into a garden or the compost pile? I have a neighbor who has a few that have been ground down but his son didnt think it was good for a garden for some reason(too acidic or something like that). I am planning on getting my garden ready for the winter this weekend and am considering putting these shaving in some of my beds to help with drainage and as a soil builder. |

I agree totally. Check out this article I wrote on using wood products as mulches and in composting: http://faq.gardenweb.com/faq/lists/orga ... 29354.html Happy Gardening! |
