I herd that you can add human urine to your outside compost pile and it will help the pile?
True or false

Any animal or plant, and any byproduct of any animal or plant, can be composted. Urine actually makes a good fertilizer, but if you are asking this question, then the compost pile is a better place for it. If your pile is relatively small, you might get a urine aroma from it. If so then you need more dry leaves to cover the pile. Those are hard to get this time of year, so collect more in the fall. Dry leaves have been discovered to absorb ammonia gas. When the dry leaves absorb moisture from dew or rain, then the water absorbs all the ammonia and releases it as an ammonia fertilizer to the soil. This was discovered by a Russian scientist right before or around the time of their revolution, so the research took decades to be "discovered" by the west. This is one of the reason why mulch and compost over the soil works so well. As ammonia is created by decomposition underground, it is absorbed by the mulch/compost and then released by the morning dew.
