While we think of spring as the time birds mate and nest, courtship and agressive behavior can commence in the fall in some species. Mallards pair up in the fall and remain together until after nesting.

Tom turkeys will begin to establish territorial rights in the fall. Bill Horn, a photographer and friend in Oklahoma captured two wild turkeys doing battle last weekend.

Initially looked like a mating dance till the talons ripped the feathers out. Wait..that still sounds like a mating dance...
