Does anyone have any thoughts on how to go about and start a tree farm. I just bought 21 acres and I want to start a tree farm with Live oak and Red oak trees. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated as I want to do this all organically. The land is 7 miles north of Commerce, TX and has been used as hay bailing land. Good black dirt. I will be putting 2 ---1 acre ponds on it that are going to be 12 feet deep and want to start this place by spring knowing that it will take me 3 years to get my first crop of 3 gallon trees. I have heard that the pot-in-pot method is good. Any help out there for somebody trying to do it right?

You need to talk to Malcolm Beck. He's available by phone at the main Garden-Ville location in San Antonio. Get the number from www.garden-ville.com.

You might also talk to Bob Webster at Shades Of Green nursery in San Antonio. He might become one of your customers after you get going.
