I'd rather see you find a way to help your wife get over her fear of something so totally harmless. Anything you use to keep them away from the areas around your garden will probably keep them away from your garden as well.

I wish i knew how to overcome her fear.... Something happen to here with frogs as a child... They do help with the bugs and even if they leave a lot of waste I can deal with it...

It may sound silly but sit down and talk to her about it. Try to find out what is behind her fear. If she's into gardening or organics tell her how beneficial the toads are. If she's not into gardening, let her know how important it is to you. Maybe if you can find a small cute frog and hold it and let her see it, touch it etc.. that would help. I don't know...

I know a lot of women that scream and run away at the sight of a cut little garden snake. I think they're precious. Go figure..

Good luck!

(I can't imagine, but then I'm afraid of spiders) Dr. Phil did a show on phobias and a lady afraid of frogs was on. He did very well w/her in a matter of minutes. First he talked to her about the irrationality of the fear. She knew it was irrational. He then drew a picture of a frog and she was not afraid of that. He talked more about what she felt the frog would do to her & she sort of talked herself out of the fear altogether. He did mention that seeing a live frog would be important to help get over the fear. I agree w/the other message about getting a small cute one to hold, but then I guess she is not going to think this is cute. If none of this works, PLEASE email me & I'll come & get all of them! We have no toads at our house.
