Last year it was pointed out to me that my sweet gum tree was showing sign of chlorosis. Since then I've bumped up the amount of green sand a bit in my sick tree treatment regimen and started foliar feeding with garret juice to help the tree out. Now that there's significant new leaf growth, I was wondering if there was any means for me to gauge how effective/ineffective my treatments are so far.

Right now I'd say that the leaves are pretty much uniformly pale green. No variegation to speak of. Should they be darker green? Is it too early to tell at this point? I'm not sure what variety of sweet gum I've got since I didn't plant it.. perhaps that factors in to some degree.

Any sweet gum owners' (or otherwise) feedback would be appreciated!

I would say too early to tell. Let the leaves reach mature size first.

Remember a lot of leaves won't look right until then. Red oak leaves are very red as they first open, then turn green afterward. Same for the shades of green of other trees.
