I noticed today that the "bark" off my white bean (canellini) plants are being stripped off from just below the soil level to 3-4 inches up the plant. The plants are only 18" or so tall and I've already lost one to this problem.
I have not seen any pests on these plants, and I'm totally organic. The plants have been thriving and flowering and I've got tiny pods on one. Each plant has a chicken wire cage around it to prevent squirrels from messing with it.
Any ideas?
