I planted a shantung maple (5 gal) in my backyard 2 years ago....It does fine until late July, early august, then the leaves start to turn brown at the edges, finally turning completely brown, curling up and falling off, earlier than the other trees.....I thought it could handle full sun? It's on the north corner of the house but it gets full sun from the west...It doesn't seem to be growing very fast, but it's still alive, should I move it? What's up? :?

Shantung does grow in full sun, quite well I might add. Could be the drought and not enough water or dry root ball from planting improperly or circling and girdling roots from being too deep. Use a stiff broom or high an arborist with an air spade to romove the soil - I'll bet it's too deep.
