It is taking a long time to develop pastures as the land was neglected for 40 years. Heifers are on pasture. Older cows and bull is on pasture with some grass but mostly bermuda with out fertilizer and without herbicides. We then give them ground up alfalfa hay from a bag mixed with DE and some sugar beet pulp. Plus about 75 to 100 lbs of alfalfa each eveninbg. Free choice Redman salt chunks with kelp mixed with DE.
DE is for worming and then every 3 months we give Basic H in water tanks for additional worming.

Hey! Where do you get this in a bag? We're raising four big heifers on grass. Even though there's lots of green grass now, we know it will be brown soon and we don't want to lose the wonderful wight gains they are making! Thanks for your help!

We buy alfalfa in a bag from feed store.
It doesn't take much to mix the other "stuff"
Remember that with DE the stuff that comes
out, manure, has trace minerals in it and it
helps the soil.
We get alfalfa bales were every we can
find them. Sometimes we get a truck load
out of NE or MO. Sometimes we can find
it along the side of the road as people
bring it to our area because of all the
horse farms.
