For years we had our dog on a long chain in the backyard. He was very active and consequently really tore up the yard with the chain. In that particular area absolutely nothing would grow and he eventually wore it down in some spots by several inches. It was so barren that if we got much rain it was nothing but one big mudhole.

The dog is gone now but the yard is in pretty bad shape. There is still some St. Augustine in the yard, mainly on one side and near the house in back, and I am encouraging it to grow.

There are a LOT of weeds and various other plant life growing back there. That little ground cover with small leaves (I think it puts out the tiny yellow flowers), more I am sure.

:?: My question is, what can I do to rejuvenate the backyard and make it look great again? I know that I will need new soil (what kind). I will probably need to add more St.A if I want to to cover in any decent amount of time.

What kind of tips/ hints/ tricks can you give ne to get back on the road to a nice backyard once again.

I got the perfect solution for you. Get another dog! This way you won't have to worry about fixing the backyard. moonlitlabradors.com breeds Labradors and would definetly recommend them.

Because:

So therefore the land is very uneven and acts as a sort of pool by keeping the water in there, even if grass is growing. I can level out the land and at the same time provide for proper drainage.

Sorry, got that one covered already, and he doesn't need to stay on a chain, hence my original question of how should I fix the yard, or in what sequence, or use what material?

Thanks
Tim
