I was going to prune a friends Texas Sage because it is very leggy. i was planning on taking it pretty far back I guess they are 4 feet tall. What do you think about that?

The past couple of years I have had pretty good results by doing the following. I resist the urge to cut back the Texas sages severely, especially this early in the year. I wait until I can see quite a few new leaves sprouting. At that time, I can tell just how far to cut back the plant in order to have a nice shape with enough "leafage" to get rid of the leggy look.

i have limbed up my sage to look like a multi-trunked sm. tree. the "legs" are very archetectural & it looks good.
